On numerous occasions throughout my life i’ve found myself wondering, is this it?! Whether it’s a shitty job, another uninspiring date, or the mundanity of the 9-5 routine (plus much much more) i’ve come to learn that it’s not just me pondering on this ultimate of questions.
Since I started _SocialStarters hundreds of professionals in their 20s and 30s have approached me and asked this very question, resulting in them embarking on one of our unique overseas social impact assignments to travel with purpose, learn about social enterprise and make a real genuine difference in a community led start-up. This felt like the perfect topic to unravel, since I’ve been on my own journey of discovery since I was in my early 20s, when I found myself, painfully, and disappointingly, asking the exact same question.
So…. Is this it?
Since October 2016 i’ve been on a mission to explore this very concept in my forthcoming 2018 book, Is This It?
This book aims to explore:
- What is the meaning of this fabulous (but often painful) little thing called life?
- What can you do to bring more adventure into your life through learning more about yourself, your community and the world at large?
- How can you have a 21st century career, with a big side dollop of meaning & purpose – Oh yes please!
Is This It? aims to equip the reader with the essential things one can do right now and in the near future, when life isn’t quite turning out the way it had been previously imagined – especially if the shit has well and truly hit the fan and an escape route is needed, fast!
Bringing together the learnings from 15 years of my own life journeys, alongside stories from the field by people who have implemented powerful change into their lives, Is This It? aims to be a straight talking, brutally honest account of what can happen when you live a life less ordinary – along with a stark warning of the dangers that can come when you don’t.
